Saturn’s digital signage capabilities are being showcased in Europe’s first digital signage end-user summit at ScreenMedia Expo 2010. Two of the four UK speakers participating in the new ‘Digital Signage Strategies Forum’ – which focuses on real world case studies and includes source solutions from across Europe and the USA – have worked with Saturn on award-winning internal communication campaigns.

The University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHBFT) consulted the digital signage experts on an ambitious screensaver project which was awarded ‘Best Internal Communications’ by the Association of Healthcare Communicators (AHC) in 2009; while Wessex Water implemented its innovative ‘Source TV’ using Saturn’s Connectvision software platform. Speaking at the ScreenMedia Expo event, Fiona Alexander, Director of Communications at UHBFT will explore how digital signage strategies can promote proactive communication and, in turn, enhance patient care. Similarly, Wessex Water’s New Media Manager Clive Tugwell and Project Coordinator Tom Chippendale will describe how embracing digital signage has helped to reinvigorate employee engagement and foster corporate culture at one of the UK’s largest organisations.

“ScreenMedia Expo is obviously a key date in the diary for us and the fact that two projects in which we’ve been very closely involved have been selected as being exemplary digital signage strategies is testimony to our forward-thinking clients and their trust in Saturn,” said Sales Director, Joe Till. At UHBFT, Saturn’s digital signage screens and screensavers are used to deliver the Hospital’s InVision multimedia messaging channel to more than 6,000 staff, 640,000 patients and their visitors; across 75 digital LCD screens and 5,000 desktop PCs. Since implementation the Foundation Trust reports a significant reduction in poster requests and a dramatic rise in employees attending training courses communicated via the InVision channel.

Wessex Water’s ‘Source TV’ has also proven a powerful tool for helping the organisation to meet its internal communication objectives. Designed to broaden Wessex Water’s 2,500 employees’ awareness of the utility company’s far reaching business activities, the channel uses a mix of text, flash, video imagery and PowerPoint files – as well as RSS feeds – to deliver real-time information across a network of screens.

Saturn’s presence at ScreenMedia Expo 2010 is the third year running that the communications specialist has exhibited at the event (stand F3) and with organisers anticipating over 130 exhibitors and 5,000 visitors - representing a 65% projected increase on 2009 attendance – Saturn is keen to promote the full range of its services in offering a complete and fully integrated digital signage experience.
