Saturn Invests in IT and Project Management Skills
Leading digital signage supplier, Saturn Communications is investing in its in-house, IT and project management skills, reflecting the multi-faceted nature of deploying and supporting Connectvision multimedia digital signage in corporate offices, call centres, cinemas and retail outlets for many of the UK's leading companies.
Over the past three months, all members of the Saturn Communications operations team have achieved Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) qualification. The MCTS award has allowed the Saturn team to develop a greater, in-depth knowledge of Microsoft's software and, in so doing, their expertise in digital signage technologies.
Lead of projects at Saturn Communications, Craig Lyon, said, “The value of Microsoft training lies in improved staff morale and performance, as well as demonstrating to our customers, competitors and suppliers that we work to industry best practices.”
Given the need to work with a customer's IT, building services and business teams, as well as AV equipment sellers and architects, when rolling out Connectvision across multiple sites, effective project management is critical. Saturn uses PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) - a process-based method for effective project management. PRINCE2 is a de facto project management standard used extensively by the UK Government and is widely recognised and used in the private sector, both in the UK and internationally.
Craig Lyon is a fully registered PRINCE 2 practitioner and plans to expand the Saturn Communication operations team's commitment to the project management methodology. “Many of our customers are PRINCE2 users and welcome the fact that we are able to offer the same level of professional project management capability,” he explained.
